Kazakhstan ratifies protocol on oil supplies from Russia
Kazakhstan’s President Nursultan Nazarbayev has signed the bill on ratification of the protocol on amendments to the intergovernmental agreement with Russia on trade and economic cooperation in the area of oil and petroleum products' supplies to the Republic of Kazakhstan dated December 9, 2010, the president’s press service reported on Saturday.
The protocol was signed by Moscow on October 3, 2018. "Amendments stipulate that Application 2 ‘List of petroleum products banned to be exported from the Russian Federation to the Republic of Kazakhstan’ and Application 3 ‘List of petroleum products banned to be exported from the Republic of Kazakhstan out of the customs area of the Customs Union’ are removed from the terms of the agreement. The issues related to regulation of petroleum products supplies from Russia to Kazakhstan and petroleum products exports from Kazakhstan’s territory out of the customs area of the Eurasian Economic Union will be brought to the intergovernmental level," Energy Minister Kanat Bozumbayev said earlier.
It was necessary to introduce those lists for guaranteed supplies of light petroleum products (gasoline, kerosene, diesel fuel) produced in Russia for saturating Kazakhstan’s domestic market, as well as preventing re-exports of the Russian product from the territory of Kazakhstan. Now that the upgrade of the country’s refineries has been completed, the sides have agreed to bring the lists of petroleum products to the intergovernmental level.
