Rosatom continues supplies of nuclear fuel, enriched uranium to Europe, US

Kirill Komarov, First Deputy General Director of Rosatom, declared that it is unacceptable to endanger the nuclear fuel cycle zone.
Russia’s state-run nuclear corporation Rosatom continues to deliver nuclear fuel and enriched uranium to Europe and the United States, the company’s First Deputy CEO Kirill Komarov said at the Atomexpo Forum.
"For the time being, no serious contracts with us have been severed. This applies to the nuclear fuel industry as well. We are too large a player in this field to simply stop working with. Moreover, there are simply no grounds for doing so," he said.
"I can only say that even now, when the European Union government closed the European airspace for Russia, planes from Russia kept bringing nuclear fuel and enriched uranium to European nuclear facilities. Delivery routes have become a bit more sophisticated, but we keep transporting. Deliveries to the United States continue as well," he said.
In his words, an important factor in preserving ties with partners is his company’s "fanatical attention to details and methods of fulfilling these contracts."
"We can never afford putting the nuclear fuel cycle at risk because of some weird political considerations," Komarov added.
Earlier, the official said that Rosatom continues its participation in 23 out of its 24 international projects. According to him, Russia and Rosatom retain their global leadership in the nuclear fuel sector.
The international forum Atomexpo-2022 is the main event in the global nuclear industry. This year, the forum was attended by leading industry experts from more than 50 countries. The key theme of the event was "Nuclear Spring: Creating a Sustainable Future". The forum, which took place on November 21-22 in Sochi, addressed the role of nuclear climate agenda and the contribution of nuclear technologies to the achievement of the UN sustainable development goals. Over 50 agreements and memorandums were signed on the sidelines of the event.
The Atomexpo forum has been held since 2009. TASS is an information partner of the event.
