Russia again allowed to export medical masks

The Russian government has lifted a temporary ban imposed earlier and allowed the export of medical masks and other protective equipment again. This follows from the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers, RIA Novosti reports on Sunday, May 3.
As follows from the text, the document was signed on April 30 by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin. It is noted that the resolution comes into force from the moment of its signing.
The government imposed a ban on the export of a number of medical devices from Russia, including masks, in early March. The restrictions were supposed to be in effect until June 1. At the same time, they did not apply to humanitarian aid and to the export of disposable goods by citizens for personal use.
At the end of April, Izvestia, citing market participants, reported that medical masks remained in only 1% of Russian pharmacies. It was noted that the hype demand for masks in Russia has subsided, but the supply of pharmacies still does not match the demand. According to experts, masks are often sold not in pharmacy chains, but in retail stores, since the latter can afford to buy them without the necessary certificates or from unverified suppliers.
