Russian Embassy explains entry restrictions in Singapore

The country is off-limits to foreigners without a residence or long-term stay permit, according to the diplomatic mission.
The Russian diplomatic mission in Singapore explained the terms of entry to the waterlocked state Friday. According to the embassy, there are some restrictions that also cover transit.
"Currently, there are entry and transit restrictions in effect in the Republic of Singapore. In particular, entry is prohibited to foreigners without a residence or long-term stay permit (working or student visa, stay permit for a family member, etc.,)," the embassy said on its Facebook page.
The diplomats point out that exemptions have been made for people invited by local authorities and people who permanently live in a number of foreign states (Brunei, China, South Korea, Malaysia and Germany) and enter Singapore "for business or official purposes via the so-called ‘green corridor’." However, even if a long-term stay permit is available, "entry to Singapore is possible only with a permission filed in advance on application of an employer, educational organization or relatives (of citizens of Singapore or people with residence permit)."
There are certain restrictions that cover transit flights. "Transit of foreigners at the Changi airport is only possible by flights of Singapore Airlines, Silk Air and Scoot and only if all segments of the flight are performed by one of the abovementioned airlines," the Russian mission noted.
In December, Jetstar Airways received permission to perform transit flights to a number of Southeast Asia cities, but it is necessary to always find out in advance whether this company’s services are available.
Exiting the airport during transit flights is strictly forbidden, the embassy added.
On January 28, the coronavirus anti-crisis center announced that air service with Greece and Singapore will resume on February 8, 2021. Flights from Moscow to Singapore will be conducted three times a week.
