Russian Ministry suggests including new regions to tax free project

It is noted that the revised list of tax free areas is expected to consist of border areas with China.
The Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade suggested including Trans-Baikal, Krasnoyarsk, Amur and Irkutsk Regions into the tax free pilot project, according to the draft resolution of the Russian Government posted on the web portal of draft regulatory acts.
"In view of the need to stimulate the inflow of foreign tourists from CIS and non-CIS countries and their financial spending in cities located in regions, the geography of the draft resolution was expanded on account of participation of certain regions: the Amur Region, the Irkutsk Region, the Trans-Baikal Region, and the Krasnoyarsk Region," the explanatory note to the draft says.
The revised list of tax free areas is expected to consist of border areas with China. "We believe the tourist flow to this destination should be expanded in connection with the closure of airspace of certain European countries for Russian airplanes and the relevant counter-sanction from the Russian Federation," the explanatory note indicates.
