Russia ready to supply food to poor countries in Africa - Russian envoy

Ruslan Edelgeriyev congratulated Egypt on the beginning of its presidency in COP27.
Russia is ready to continue supplies of food and fertilizers to the poorest countries, especially in Africa, Russian Special Presidential Envoy for Climate Ruslan Edelgeriyev, who leads the Russian delegation to the 2022 UN Climate Change Conference (COP27), said on Sunday.
"On our part, we will continue to supply food, fertilizers and other vital products to the countries who need them most of all, especially on the African continent," he said in a press statement following the opening of the 27th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27).
"Today, humankind is facing numerous challenges, including global warming, which require consolidated efforts," he noted. "Russia is convinced that under Egypt’s leadership Asian and African countries will be able to voice their hopes and approaches to the climate agenda, including in the area of funding."
"We are set for pragmatic and depoliticized cooperation based on combating climate change, following the UN sustainable development goals, and commitment to the efforts to eradicate poverty and hunger in developing countries," he stressed.
He congratulated Egypt on the beginning of its presidency in COP27.
The World Climate Summit kicked off in the Egyptian resort city of Sharm El Sheikh on Sunday. Egypt chairs the 27th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27). More than 44,000 delegates from various nations, representatives of non-governmental entities, experts, and journalists, including leaders of more than 110 world nations, are expected to take part in the forum’s events in Sharm El Sheikh during the conference that will last until November 18.
