Finance Ministry mulls options to exchange frozen assets of foreign and Russian investors

It is reported that as part of the consideration of options for its solution, it is necessary to verify the volume of frozen assets and obtain appropriate confirmations in order to ensure that the interests of Russian and foreign investors are observed.
The Russian Finance Ministry is considering the possibility of exchanging the assets of Russian investors frozen abroad for foreign assets available in the Russia, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said in in an interview with Naila Asker-zade aired on the Rossiya-24 TV channel.
"On the one hand, theoretically it is possible. On the other hand, here we need to take a number of legislative decisions that would allow us to use the frozen funds of foreign investors that are frozen here in the Russian Federation for settlements on those assets that are frozen abroad. It's not an easy situation. There are also such initiatives. But they are under consideration. I would say that they are at the initial stage of consideration," Siluanov said.
