EU mulls restricting transit of goods through Russia

Measures "targeting vessels that switch off navigation systems" are also being considered.
The European Union is considering restricting the transit of goods via Russia within the framework of the 11th sanctions package, Bloomberg reported on Wednesday citing its sources.
According to its information, this proposal is aimed against "the loopholes in sanctions already enacted." Measures "targeting vessels that switch off navigation systems" are also being considered.
The news agency’s sources say that the US, Japan and Canada are preparing their own new anti-Russian sanctions packages. For instance, Canada "is working on measures relating to human rights" and "penalties on Russia’s defense industry."
The Group of Seven will announce its plans during its summit in Japan later this month.
