The price growth in the consumer market slowed down during the first week of 2024 to 0.26%.
Annual inflation in Russia totaled 7.44% from January 1 to 9, the Ministry of Economic Development says in its price review.
"The price growth in the consumer market slowed down during the first week of 2024 (in the period from January 1 to 9, 2024) to 0.26%; inflation totaled 7.44% year on year," the ministry said.
"During the reporting week, inflation stood at 0.72% in the food segment on account of a change in fruits and vegetables prices. Inflation was 0.2% for foods, except fruits and vegetables, while meat products and sugar prices declined. In the nonfood sector, inflation made up to 0.11% during the reporting week. Deflation is observed in the services sector due to the price drop for domestic airfare," the ministry added.
