Preparation work for building Nord Stream-2 pipeline terminal started in Germany.

Work on the preparation of the construction site for the receiving terminal of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline and office premises began in the German city of Lubmin (Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania), DPA reported.

"We are working in compliance with our production plans," a representative of the operator of the future gas pipeline told the agency.

Earlier this year, the project received all necessary construction permits from the German supervisory authorities.

The Nord Stream-2 project involves construction of two gas pipeline lines with a total capacity of 55 bln cubic meters of gas per year from the coast of Russia through the Baltic Sea to Germany. It will bypass the transit states - Ukraine, Belarus, Poland and other Eastern European and Baltic countries and will pass through the exclusive economic zones and territorial waters of five states - Russia, Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Germany.

The total cost of the project is estimated at 9.5 bln euros. Commissioning of Nord Stream - 2 is scheduled for the end of 2019. Gazprom is the only shareholder of Nord Stream 2 AG, which is the project’s operator. Gazprom's European partners in the project are German Uniper and Wintershall, Austrian OMV, French Engie and Anglo-Dutch Shell.
