Russian - Malaysian business meeting in Kuala Lumpur.

On October 4, 2013, Russian Business Council for Cooperation with Malaysia and Asian Strategy and Leadership Institute (ASLI) hosted a Roundtable Russian-Malaysian business meeting in the “Sunway” Hotel.

The Russian side was represented by the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Malaysia H.E.Liudmila Vorobieva, Trade Representative of the Russian Federation to Malaysia Mr. Alexey Slizkov and the Chairman of the Russian Business Council for Cooperation with Malaysia Dr. Vladimir Sautov, as well as a group of Russian businessmen.

Malaysian participants were: Senior Vice-President of ASLI, Mr.Max Say, along with other ASLI representatives, and leaders of Malaysian major government and private companies and official bodies.

During the meeting the main attention was paid to issues of further development of cooperation between Russian and Malaysian business communities, as well as issues of creating favourable conditions for penetrating markets of both countries.

H.E.Liudmila Vorobieva familiarised participants with the current state and prospects of Russian-Malaysian bilateral ties, especialy in business areas, and pointed out an existing significant potential for further growth of mutually beneficial cooperation.

Speech, given by Mr. Slizkov, the Trade Representative, contained detailed analysis of the current economical situation in Russia, forecasts of its development, as well as the problems of trade cooperation of Russia and Malaysia.

Dr. Sautov briefly informed participants about the Business Council, that was established on June 27, 2013. He stressed that the main aim of the Business Council's work was to render assistance to private businesses in achieving new levels of bilateral cooperation.

Mr. Max Say highlited the necessity of expanding Russian-Malaysian business ties and expressed ASLI's desire to assist Business Council.

All participants of the "Round table" highly praised a joint initiative by the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Business Council to publish a book, containing conversations with Mahathir bin Mohamad, The presentation of the book took place on the sidelines of the the opening of the World Chinese Economic Forum in Kuala Lumpur, on October 3, 2013.

"Round table" debated and discussions between representatives of Malaysian business and Russian participants were mostly dedicated to perspectives of activisation of business partnership and Business Council's role in it.

 

В ходе «круглого стола» состоялась дискуссия между представителями малайзийского бизнеса и российскими участниками, которые ответили на ряд вопросов, связанных с перспективой активизации двустороннего делового партнерства и ролью Делового совета в этом процессе.
