Meeting with Ambassador of Malaysia to Russia.
Delegation of the Russian Business Council for Cooperation with Malaysia, headed by its Chairman, Mr. Vladimir Sautov, met with newly Appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Malaysia to Russia, H.E.Datuk Mat Dris Haji Yaacob.
The dialogue was held in friendly and constructive way.
The Head of the Business Council in details explained to the newly arrived Ambassador regarding the activities and scope of work of the Business Council in the field of supporting and developing bilateral business contacts, highlighted achievements and remaining problems, that still appear in the way of expanding business ties between partners of our countries, and informed H.E.Ambassador regarding the plans of the Business Council for the current year.
H.E.Datuk Mat Dris Haji Yaacob thanked the delegation for a detailed information, welcomed the development of bilateral trade and economy ties and underlined importance of expanding a mutually beneficial dialogue in the fields of trading both goods and services. Among top priorities Ambassador named tourism, education, medicine, exchange of technologies and etc.
According to his opinion, there is also an unfulfilled but promising opportunity for Russian-Malaysian joint projects to penetrate markets of third countries and present advanced high-technology products or services.
Parties agreed on necessity of expediting work on setting up the First meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission (JIT) on Economy, Science and Culture Cooperation, prepare agenda, form its organs, such as working groups on science and technology cooperation, developing of trade and assisting small and medium enterprises.
An idea of hosting a Russian-Malaysian Business Forum on the sidelines of the meeting of the JIT was mutually welcomed by both parties.
Malaysian diplomat also agreed with importance of developing science and cultural ties between Russian and Malaysian science and education institutions, including functions to be held in the framework of celebration of 200 Years Anniversary of the Institute of Oriental Studies under the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Sides agreed to continue contacts and information exchange on the business agenda of developing business dialogue and coordinate business activities on the level of the Economic section of the Embassy and the Business Council.
